Preparation

The instructions in this post work with Ubuntu 12 (Precise), Ubuntu 14 (Trusty), Ubuntu 16 (Xenial), Ubuntu 17 (Artful) and Ubuntu 18 (Bionic). It is highly recommended that you start with a clean Ubuntu or Ubuntu Server installation.

  • You will need a minimum of 1 GB of physical memory (RAM) for the UniFi application to start up correctly.

Ensure all the latest Ubuntu package updates have been applied, using the following commands:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade

Once this step is complete, you are ready to begin the installation process.
