Build

Adding the Mounting Stands

The third build step is to add the Minifigure mounting stands to the frame’s back panel.

Don’t forget to refer to the Assembly Notes section for the LEGO® Minifigure Background you are building to ensure you placing the correct mounting stands in the right places!

To perform this build step, you will need the following items:

  • Brush-on Supa Glue
  • Straight-edge rules
  • Clamps

I used Selleys® Quick FIX Brush On Supa Glue, which was readily available from my local home hardware store. The applicator brush is perfect for applying just the right amount of supa glue to the back of the mounting stands.

Once you have these items, proceed with the following instructions:

  1. Align the straight-edge rule with the top of the row being installed and clamp them into place. Do not use excessive clamp pressure otherwise you will damage the background!

I used two overlapping steel rules to form a slightly elevated straight edge, which was purely to ensure no residual supa glue got stuck to the edge of the rule. The two steel rules together were thick enough that I needed to adjust the straight edge position up slightly to account for the brick studs.

  2. Place each mounting stand for the row in place, ensuring they align correctly with the template boxes and straight-edge. For multi-width mounting stands, use a temporary plate – such as a minifigure base plate – to hold the bricks together using the correct block spacing.
  3. Once you are happy with the positioning of the row, repeat the following steps for each mounting stand:
    1. Using the applicator brush, apply a light coating of supa glue to the back of the mounting stand.

    2. Carefully place the mounting stand into position on the back panel, and adjust as necessary.
    3. Press down and hold the mounting stand for at least 30 seconds.

When the first row is complete, it should appear similar to the following:

  4. Remove the clamps and repeat the entire process for the remaining rows.

  5. Once all rows are complete, remove the clamps, and gently remove any temporary plates used for multi-width mounting stands.

Allow at least 30 minutes setting time before proceeding to the next build step.

Check the directions on your glue for the recommended time before working with bonded objects.

You are now ready to begin Mounting your Minifigures.
