Install Debian

Once a new virtual machine has been created, Debian can be installed normally – either over the Internet, or from the ISO media.

When the installation is complete, log in as the root user.

Graphical Desktop

If you performed a graphical desktop installation, the Desktop Log In dialog will be displayed.

From the Desktop Log In dialog, perform the following actions:

  1. Type root in the username field;
  2. Type the password you configured for the root account during installation in the password field.
  3. Click Log In.

The Debain Desktop will be displayed.

Console
If you performed a console-based installation, the Console Login prompt will be displayed.

From the Console Login prompt, perform the following actions:

  1. Type root and press Enter;
  2. Type the password you configured for the root account during installation, and press Enter.

The Console Shell will be displayed.
